Advanced dive planning
Maximum depth, dive time, gas supply, buddy experience, weather and site conditions, considered together before every dive.
CMAS Two-Star Diver · ★★ · Hurghada
The grade that turns a certified beginner into an autonomous diver. Advanced dive planning, navigation, gas management and buoyancy, developed toward a recommended maximum depth of 30 meters, so you can organize and conduct your own dives rather than simply follow one.

The CMAS Two-Star Diver course, also written CMAS P2 or CMAS ★★, is the continuing-education grade of the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques, developing a certified One-Star Diver into a more capable and independent diver. In Hurghada it costs €400 per person for the training, with CMAS federation, registration, materials and certification fees charged separately. Candidates must hold CMAS One-Star Diver or an accepted equivalent and be at least fifteen, with the logged diving experience current CMAS and national-federation standards require; the program covers advanced dive planning, gas management, navigation, buoyancy and trim, and deeper diving, developed toward a recommended maximum depth of 30 meters. Red Sea Diving runs it in Hurghada on the Egyptian Red Sea.
Moreover, this is not a beginner course. Candidates already understand the fundamentals; the objective here is broader knowledge, stronger practical ability and real open-water experience. Therefore we review your certification and logbook before we confirm a program, and we explain in writing any CMAS fee that applies. The program follows the standards published by the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques.

Both develop a certified beginner into a more capable diver, and both touch navigation, deeper diving and buoyancy. By contrast, PADI Advanced Open Water is built around five specific adventure dives completed over a short course; CMAS Two-Star Diver is judged on broader development, dive planning, gas management and genuine independence, with the logged experience to back it up.
Furthermore, the outcome differs in emphasis. A PADI Advanced diver has sampled five specialties; a CMAS Two-Star Diver is expected to organize a dive competently on their own, which is why CMAS treats this as a continuing-education grade rather than a single short add-on course.
In short, both are taught here, and either fits comfortably alongside a BSAC or PADI card if that is what you already hold.
Maximum depth, dive time, gas supply, buddy experience, weather and site conditions, considered together before every dive.
Above all, tracking starting pressure, consumption and reserve gas, rather than relying on a predetermined time alone.
Neutral buoyancy, controlled ascents and descents, stable positioning and efficient finning that reduces effort and gas use.
Likewise, compass use, landmarks, dive routes and finding your way back, especially valuable at an unfamiliar site.
In addition, experience beyond entry level, built up gradually toward the recommended 30-meter maximum.
Communication, positioning, gas awareness and problem recognition, because a stronger diver is also a stronger buddy.
Furthermore, recognizing gas-related and other developing problems, controlled ascent procedures and basic rescue awareness.
Diving in different conditions responsibly, with good fin control and minimal contact with the reef.
Finally, the judgment to plan and run your own dive, which is what separates Two-Star from the grade before it.
However, depth itself is not the objective of this course. In other words, planning, awareness and independence matter more than the number on the depth gauge.

To begin with, we review your certification, training agency, logged dives, maximum previous depth and recent diving, so the program fits your actual experience.
Then dive planning, gas management, decompression awareness, dive computers and environmental conditions, applied to real situations rather than memorized.
Next, trim, controlled ascents and descents, and compass navigation, practiced until they become second nature.
Afterward, dives on varied Red Sea sites, applying planning, gas management, navigation and buddy skills together.
Finally, your instructor’s evaluation of your development throughout the program and your certification.
However, the exact schedule depends on your existing experience, your progress and current sea conditions. Consequently we confirm the day-by-day plan once we have reviewed your logbook.
Not there yet? The CMAS One-Star Diver course is the step before this one. Moreover, if your certification is from PADI, SSI or BSAC, send it to us first, because we review eligibility before we confirm the program.

Therefore your written quotation shows the €400 training price and each applicable CMAS fee as separate lines. In fact, that is why the headline says €400 rather than a vaguer all-in figure.

Hurghada gives a Two-Star candidate real variety within one day’s range: sheltered reefs for the basics, walls for deeper diving practice, current for genuine gas-management pressure and daily boat operations for navigation between unfamiliar sites. Moreover, hard and soft corals, moray eels, turtles and schools of reef fish appear on training dives as naturally as on any other.
Furthermore, our daily diving keeps running long after this course, so logging further experience toward Three-Star is straightforward here. Our procedures sit on the diving safety page.
Equally, depth is never the point on its own. Good planning, awareness and buddy skills matter more than reaching 30 meters quickly.
